We were delighted on Thursday to attend the launch of a batch of SBIR contracts run by Smart Dublin and Enterprise Ireland.

Safecility’s parent company, The Convex Lens, was awarded a contract by Dun Laoghaire. Safecility technology will be contributing to project, which will enable smarter city by connecting devices around the area to the council’s control centre using streetlights and the new TALQ protocol.

This could mean that bins trigger collection when full, or better management of traffic flow is made possible by meter data or up to date information on EV chargers is made available to the public.

Safecility proposed to extend our process-driven approach into a Smart City project to join our Smart Building applications. The contract is hugely exciting for the team.

SBIR contracts are an innovation contract with large public or semi-public entities to help them tackle business and process challenges which conventional procurement cannot solve.

Safecility benefits from the direct exposure to challenge-owners and the chance to work directly on validated problems that they have. We will be posting regular updates on how the process works and our experiences.
